The Best Dog-Friendly Pubs Near Keynsham
30 June 2026
There's nothing quite like rounding off a brilliant session at the park with your dog and heading somewhere you both feel welcome. Keynsham and the surrounding area have some genuinely excellent dog-friendly pubs β places where your dog isn't merely tolerated but properly welcomed with water bowls, treats, and a tail-wagging atmosphere.
Here are our favourites.
The Lock Keeper, Keynsham
Right on your doorstep, The Lock Keeper sits on the banks of the River Avon and is one of the most popular dog-friendly spots in the area. With a generous beer garden overlooking the river and a genuinely relaxed welcome for dogs of all sizes, it's the perfect post-park stop. On warmer days the garden fills up fast, so arrive early if you're planning a weekend visit. Dogs are welcome in the garden and in most areas of the pub itself.

The Jolly Sailor, Saltford
A short drive or a beautiful riverside walk from Keynsham, The Jolly Sailor in Saltford sits right on the River Avon and has a wonderful outdoor area where dogs can stretch out while you enjoy a well-earned pint. The walk from the pub along the cycle path is a lovely way to build up a thirst β your dog will thank you for it too. Dog-friendly throughout, with water bowls always on hand.

The Old Crown, Kelston
The Old Crown in the village of Kelston, nestled between Keynsham and Bath, is a proper country pub with bags of character. Dogs are welcomed with open arms here, and the surrounding countryside makes it a natural stop on a longer rural walk. The pub food is excellent, the beer is well-kept, and the vibe is exactly what you'd hope for in a village local.

The Wheatsheaf, Corston
Easily the closest pub to the dog park and newly renovated this is the perfect place to grab a coffee, a drink or a tasty snack after a session in the park. It's popular with walkers from the park so you'll often find yourself among fellow dog owners. The kitchen does excellent pub lunches, and dogs are welcome inside as well as out.
Exploring Bristol's Dog-Friendly Pub Scene
If you fancy heading into Bristol after your session at the park, the city has a thriving dog-friendly pub culture. The harbourside area in particular has several excellent options, and many of Bristol's independent pubs go out of their way to make dogs feel at home β think doggy water stations, treats behind the bar, and staff who'll remember your dog's name before they remember yours.
It's always worth calling ahead or checking a pub's website before visiting with your dog, as policies can vary by area of the pub or time of day.
Dog Pub Etiquette: A Quick Reminder
Even at the most dog-friendly pubs, a little courtesy goes a long way:
- Keep your dog on lead inside and in beer gardens β even friendly dogs can be overwhelming for other customers.
- Bring a mat or blanket so your dog has their own space and stays comfortable.
- Clean up immediately if there's an accident β it keeps pubs dog-friendly for everyone.
- Don't feed your dog pub food without checking what's in it β onions, garlic, and certain seasonings are toxic to dogs.
- Be honest about your dog's temperament β if they're not comfortable in busy, noisy environments, a quieter off-peak visit is kinder for everyone.
The best thing about dog-friendly pubs is that they create communities. You'll often find yourself chatting to other dog owners you'd never have met otherwise β and your dog will almost certainly make a few new friends of their own.
